Product Description
Excellent feed for rabbits, cows and sheep. White-fleshed roots grow up to ten pounds. Can also be hung in chicken house to entertain and provide feed for chickens in winter. Should be chopped for cows and sheep. While Yellow Cylindrical can be harvested young for table fare, it is not recommended. Seeding rate is 10 lb./acre in 36" rows at 25 seeds/ft. Avg. 40,000 seeds/lb. Requires water to grow. Will not grow in areas with drought. Mangels grow well in poorer soils in full sun and with a constant supply of moisture. Prefers well-drained, loamy soils; clay soils will not produce the best roots. Seed at 15-25 seeds/ft. Final target spacing is 4-8" apart for the biggest roots. May be thinned. Harvest small to feed immediately. Will grow in a wide spread of 4.2-8.2 ph. Yield per acre ranges from 15 to 30 tons of roots. Roots should be chopped into manageable pieces for sheep and cows.
